N. Korea Moving to Name Kim Jong Un’s Daughter as Successor
During a closed-door briefing to the parliamentary intelligence committee, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) presented its findings, lawmakers Park Sun-won and Lee Seong-kweun told reporters, according to a Seoul-based news agnecy.
“The NIS believes that North Korea has now entered the stage of designating Kim Ju-ae as Kim's successor,” Lee said.
There has been no immediate response from Pyongyang regarding the NIS assessment.
The agency noted that Ju-ae has been increasingly visible at state functions, including the founding anniversary of the Korean People's Army and her visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun. The NIS also cited indications that she has expressed opinions on certain government policies.
“The spy agency also said it will keep close tabs on whether she attends the North's key party congress set for late this month.”
