South Korean Court Increases Ex-First Lady’s Corruption Sentence
(MENAFN) A South Korean appeals court has increased the prison sentence of the country’s former first lady, raising it from 20 months to four years in a corruption case, according to reports.
The Seoul High Court issued the revised ruling after determining that Kim Keon Hee, the wife of former President Yoon Suk Yeol, was guilty of participating in a stock manipulation scheme and receiving luxury gifts linked to the Unification Church, as stated by reports.
Prosecutors had reportedly sought a significantly harsher penalty of 15 years in prison during proceedings led by a special counsel team.
